-written under the influence of Zyprexa.-

intensity lives in the curves
of chocolate brown hair,
held back only by a lopsided
circle of black elastic.

anger seeps under watch
bands, faded cotton and
worn-soft denim, a memo
of love lived out in limbo.

lessons never taught– learned
by proximity and practicality–
unravelling with twenty years
of history//3 months of wordlove.

but the refrain echoes as
noiselessly as growing hairs
[silence played out in
spurts of deafening noise.]

accepting tolerance as acceptance.
believing love, distrust, hurt
are synonyms of the same disease
that few have and all seek.
